Scripps National Spelling Bee

Norton PTA is excited to announce that Norton Elementary is participating in the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee!

Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 will receive a letter with important dates along with a handout with study words pertaining to their grade level.

KEY DATES

November 8, 2024 - An optional Written Qualifying Test will be offered during the morning to all 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in their homeroom class.

The top scorer from each classroom will be notified within two (2) weeks that they are eligible to advance to the Norton Elementary Spelling Bee. Students who pass the qualifying test will be eligible to advance to the Norton Elementary Spelling Bee and will receive a copy of the school-wide spelling list.

December 3, 2024 - The Norton Spelling Bee will be held in the MPR after school.

PREPARATION

We encourage every child to study the words in preparation for the spelling bee. This is a great opportunity for each student to improve their spelling and have fun!

If you do not receive a Study Words sheet for your student by October 15th, please reach out to our Norton PTA Spelling Bee Chair at spellingbee@ptanorton.org.

Students can study for the Spelling Bee by downloading Word Club for free in the App Store or Google Play Store. The app includes the 450 words on the 2024 School Spelling Bee Study List and all 4,000 words in Words of the Champions, the recommended study list for School Champions.
